Kim grew up on a farm in southwest Iowa. She applies that rural work ethic to her clients cases in front of U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services, the immigration courts, and federal courts. She frequently visits clients in immigration custody and represents them in deportation proceedings, as well as the federal courts. Kim is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the National Immigration Project, as well as an active volunteer with The Advocates for Human Rights. She is a frequent presenter on immigration panels at continuing legal education seminars. She was the Advocates for Human Rights Volunteer of the Year in 2008. She graduated from the University of Iowa law school and holds a B.A. from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa. |

Summer is originally from southeast Iowa. She graduated from Augsburg College with a B.A. in Nordic Area Studies and International Relations. Summer spent a year abroad studying at the University of Oslo in Norway. Prior to attending law school, Summer worked for Human Rights First in Washington, D.C., where she assisted asylees in the D.C. metro area. She also volunteered with Capital Area Immigrant Rights (CAIR) Coalition, an immigrant detainee non-profit. Summer received a J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law, where she was awarded the “Michelle R. Bennet Award for Outstanding Client Service” in the legal clinic. Summer also worked with the Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ICADV), assisting immigrant victims of domestic abuse obtain legal status. Prior to joining Kim Hunter & Associates, she worked for St. Cloud Area Legal Services as an immigration and family law attorney. Summer speaks Norwegian and Spanish.

Originally from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Kara received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Minnesota. She worked for Kim Hunter & Associates while studying at the University of Minnesota and has now worked here for a total of three years. Kara has worked on Capitol Hill and in the development department for a national non-profit in Washington, D.C. She taught citizenship classes to refugees in Arlington, Virginia and has volunteered at the Lincoln Adult Education Center in Minneapolis. She is a student at William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul.
